Wear good, comfortable shoes or walking boots, take suitable wet weather gear.

Walk leaders, as members of the Ramblers, have third party liability insurance to lead walks.

Each walk description identifies if dogs, on a short lead, are permitted.

18h30 TQ878165. Meet at car park of Queens Head, Iklesham, East Sussex, only pub in that village. 5 miles. Summer evening walk, near to the summer solstice, in the Brede Valley. EARLY WARNING TO ALL MEMBERS

IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

As you see we have included the Agenda for this year’s AGM on November 7th. It is important for you all to know that the Chairman, Group Secretary, Treasurer and Webmaster do not wish to stand for re-election. Also, Paul Talsma, our Walks Programme Secretary would like to handover to another volunteer, he is prepared to stand as Chairman, but cannot do both roles.

You are kindly asked to consider standing for a Committee post but especially those above.The Ashford Ramblers Group cannot continue without these vital roles filled.

 

The AGM will be held on Saturday 7th November from 1400 to 1530. The venue is Woodchurch Scouts and Guides Community Centre, Lower Road, Woodchurch, nr. Ashford. TN26 3SQ

At 11am there will be a short walk from the Community Centre led by David Gatward returning approximately in time for the opening of the hall.

At 1230 the Centre will be opened and there will be tea, coffee and biscuits. You are welcome to bring your own lunch to eat in the Hall.

10:30 am TR106550. 3 miles. Meet at Chartham church. A short walk from the station. Park round the green behind the church. Linear walk to Canterbury. Make your own way back by bus or train, or retrace your steps. A hard surface path by the river Stour, but liable to flooding. Dogs on a short lead permitted.

10 am TQ888225. Peasmarsh. Park in School Lane. 10 mile circular walk going through lovely hilly landscape to the ancient town of Rye (short visit). We continue northwards following the military canal and then eastwards back towards Peasmarsh. Dogs on a short lead permitted.

10 am TQ801555. Bearstead. Park at public car park near the church. Circular walk. Middle section very hilly, with steps. 8.5 miles: a.m. 5.5 miles via Thurnham castle, p.m. 3 miles via golf course. Lunch stop Detting – cock horse PH or churchyard. Total climbing 1400 feet. Dogs on a short lead allowed.

Starting from Egerton Village Hall car park (Grid ref. Exp 137 TQ907472) at 18.30.  A 2.5 mile walk across fields, followed by a meal at the George.  Please let the walk leader know by Monday 1st August if you wish to eat afterwards.  Dogs on a short lead permitted.

Lunch Stone in Oxney then to Chapel Bank, Reading sewer and back to the Ellen Terry museum. Dogs on a short lead permitted.
